Six Of Crows - by Leigh Bardugo
Six Of Crows - by Leigh Bardugo
It is an intriguing story containing action, fantasy, adventure, revenge, trauma, prejudice, romance, and friendship all at once.
Leigh Bardugo skillfully crafted this book to reveal the darker sides of life and their impacts. She presents the story from the perspectives of six characters, yet manages to keep readers on their toes. Set in Dutch Republic–era Amsterdam (1588 to 1672), each character gets their spotlight, with dark pasts that shape their worldviews. Despite the numerous points of view and the fast-paced plot, the novel remains coherent and engaging.
This book is full of suspense and unpredictable twists at every turn. It features LGBTQ+ representation, powerful female characters, and dark, morally grey male characters, adding depth and diversity to the narrative. The character development is exceptional, with each individual’s backstory intricately woven into the plot, enhancing the overall complexity and richness of the story.
Bardugo’s splendid work, however, does have some unbelievable elements, such as the ages of the characters and their extraordinary abilities to outsmart enemies. Kaz, for instance, is so far-sighted that he can almost foretell everything. Despite these minor flaws, the story's captivating nature and the masterful intertwining of various themes make it a compelling read.
